Liberty of London 1880s Bustle Era gown

2023 was a big year for 1880s era gowns! With the popularity of the 1883 tv series, it is no wonder garments from the late Victorian period have captured the imagination of people everywhere!

This is our Harvest Bustle gown made from a Liberty of London print sent to us by the client. It was an absolute dream to work with! This cotton print has the luster of satin and the snap of taffeta. I understand why Liberty of London is still the premier source for cotton prints!

Liberty of London began as a posh department store on Regent Street in 1875. Started by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, this “new” type of shopping experience was a sensation and like all smart retailers, his partnership with famous artists William Morris and René Beauclair set his fabric collection apart.

This 1880s era bustle gown is so beautiful and is made with snappy calico cotton from an amazing London based textile house steeped in both history and Romantic appeal!

My interest in historical costume began at a very early age. I knew by age 5 I wanted to be a designer. Over the years I have been fortunate enough to turn my passion into a full time business. You can find my costumes onstage in NYC, on the big screen, and in museums around the globe.
