Mid 19th century quilted bonnet

When chilly temperatures set in, the farm turns from green to gold and settles in for a long period of rest. No set of winter outerwear is complete without a warm woolen bonnet.

We designed this simple, soft bodied, quilted bonnet for an Appalachian living history site. Made in the traditional 1850s-1860s style, this cold weather utilitarian bonnet features a woven wool exterior (making it somewhat water repellant) with a quilted cotton lining.

Homespun ties finish off this practical headwear making it well suited for keeping one warm on cold winter days!

About Susan

My interest in historical costume began at a very early age. I knew by age 5 I wanted to be a designer. Over the years I have been fortunate enough to turn my passion into a full time business. You can find my costumes onstage in NYC, on the big screen, and in museums around the globe.
