The Ellie Dress

$225.00$295.00

The Ellie dress is a girl’s very popular dress style during the mid 19th Century. Inspired by a vibrant cochineal dress (c. 1842) in the collection of the Met and a muted Quaker dress (c. 1850 ) in the collection of The Indiana State Museum, this style gown was worn across diverse regional and socio-economic circles from about 1840 through 1870.

Featuring a wide, yoked neckline, the Ellie dress sports short, fitted sleeves and a delicately gathered front bodice. The full skirt employs tucks at the hemline to accommodate growing girls. It is attached to the bodice via a fitted waistband. The dress closes at the center back. Shown over a girl’s tucked petticoat (recommended but not included). Neckerchief sold separately.
