The First American Cookbook (1796)

$10.00

American Cookery is the first ever cookbook written specifically for the new world. Receipts with American ties were previously published in English cookbooks, but this text is the first of its kind. While the origins of American Cookery are tied to the Hudson River Valley, this text includes sophisticated uses of herbs, wines, and cornmeal and illustrates how English receipts were adapted to American agriculture.

American Cookery was the premiere New England Cookbook from 1796-1831.
