The Work Woman’s Dress (design your own)

Our Work Woman’s Gown is inspired by the dress of every day wear found in a period book by the same name- The Work Woman’s Guide by A Lady (c. 1838). Our Work Woman’s Dress is designed as a representation of the general style of working gowns from about 1840 through 1890.

This dress features a loose fitting, unlined bodice gathered gently under the bust and at the center back. The sleeves are cut moderately to encourage movement and feature a short cuff with button closure. The semi full skirt is gathered into a waistband and attached to the bodice. The skirt is hemmed to the ankle with a single turn hem. The gown closes at the center front with buttons.

Our Work Woman’s Dress is a sister to our American South Dress. It is similar in cut and silhouette but without a few of the American South’s bells and whistles. Our Work Woman’s Dress is designed with a lower price point in mind yet still maintains the consistent quality construction methods we are so well known for.
