This straw hat base is the perfect beginning to your own Colonial, Georgian, and even Victorian Era millinery projects. Featuring a 13″ and 15″ (pictured) wide saucer brim and extremely shallow crown, this 100% 3-end straw plait hat is ideal for the years 1750-1800; 1850-1880;  and 1930s-1950s.

Description

Bergeres were a popular millinery choice beginning in the 18th century. Straw bergeres were worn plain, with plaited ribbons, or fully covered in silk fabric. Bergeres are affiliated with 18th century pastoral dress trends and were worn by ladies of all ages, social standings, and nationalities. Our straw bergere is ideal for Colonial, Georgian, Victorian, and even mid 20th century millinery projects.  The crown is very shallow and perches on top of the head. Best worn with ties or a hat pin (not included).
