This style Romantic Era bonnet was popular for formal day wear during the 1840s and 1850s. Drawn (or shirred) over a partial buckram frame, this bonnet is very lightweight and a breeze to wear.
Constructed from 100% tone on tone cream striped silk, it is fully lined in lightweight cotton muslin. The half buckram frame is wired and padded for maximum comfort and durability.
Inspired by an original bonnet in The Henry Ford Collection, this lovely mid 19th century bonnet features lots of hand stitching and intricate detail work.
(Bonnet not meant to be worn during inclement weather.)
