WWI tippets

These images of WWI era tippets (short capes) will help us increase the authenticity of our reproductions!

WWItippet1 WWItippet2

When I first started recreating these about a year ago, I had no idea what the back of the capes looked like (because I have not had the opportunity to see one in person). I have been working exclusively off photographic images. Thanks to a client who tipped me off (pun intended), I now know what the BACK of these look like! Time to tweak our cape design!

So, if you have ordered a cape prior to this date and would like the rose, please email me at info@maggiemayfashions.com and I will ship one to you!

About Susan

Hi! My name is Susan and I am a historian, seamstress, teacher, mother, and wife. My passion for history has manifested itself in the art of recreating clothing from different periods of time. Growing up in the American South, I am heavily schooled in the art of recreating clothing from the 19th century. After nearly a decade of immersing myself primarily in the Victorian period, I found the need to branch out and explore other periods of time. However, it is my connection with the American South and the clothing of rural America that continues to be the driving force behind my designs.
